According to the Census Bureau’s most recent Geographic Mobility Report, 65 percent of individuals who move to new homes have remained in the same county in which they most recently resided. Eighty-four percent of movers have remained in the same state. Another interesting fact is that movers who purchase a home  move a median distance of 13 miles. What these numbers may be telling us is that people essentially like where they live. They are moving to find better homes and school districts, more affordable housing, safer neighborhoods, and shorter commutes.
