These improvements also boost energy efficiency, which is something that appeals to buyers. It pays to improve wisely.

      HINT: Total kitchen remodels, home-office remodeling, sunroom additions, and new bathrooms (unless the addition brings the number of bathrooms up to minimum neighborhood standards) tend not to do well in terms of payback at resale time.
