                In order for a negotiation to be successful, both sides need to come away with a sense of having gotten something they wanted. To this end, it could be argued that the real estate professional’s ability as a negotiator should be high on the list of qualities that sellers want to look for. A good negotiator does not approach negotiations as an adversarial exercise that leaves little room for the other side to maneuver. Quite the contrary, since a good negotiator can empathize with the other side’s needs (including emotional) and present solutions that help close the deal and make both buyer and seller feel comfortable with the end result, especially  when both sides seem to be relatively far apart.
